Day 123: White Pass

13.7 miles (22.0km)

26 Aug 2018

We get dropped off by Katie in Packwood early morning. We enjoy some hot chocolate / coffee and pastry before hitching to White Pass. It seems to be a fairy hard hitch but just as Roadrunner made a sign, a local trail angel pulls over and gives us a ride.

We pick up our resupply box at the gas station and have a little reunion with Silver Fox. Across the street, about 100 fire fighters are camping to combat the nearby fires.

Bad weather is predicted and not long after we hike out late morning, it starts to rain. It's really cold and wet and after a good 13 miles we decide to stop and put up our tents. My hands of course are completely numb and it takes me forever to get anything done. With some engineering, I manage to get my stove burning and slowly I regain some strength in my fingers while making Ramen. Blood circulation to my hands and feet is the worst.

I'm in my sleeping bag by 17h30. Hopefully rain will stop before tomorrow morning.
